One of the main goals of HUERTOS MONTSERRAT has been and it will continued being to get a quality for over the average level of the market, been always the best ally in economic results terms and a hard way that will allow HUERTOS MONTSERRAT to keep developing the business challenge of the fresh and dehydrated fruit.

Our founder, Jaime Bosch B. came to Chile in  1952  from Spain at the age of 26 years old and immediately he began to work in the orchards  in the area  of  Santiago until he  had the possibility of becoming independent in 1957 when he moved to the Maule Region, where he is presently.

Beginning with traditional methods , he earned the respect of all the farmers of the area  for his dedication which was reflected  in the high productivity achieved as he worked the fields. In 1970 , he started  in the fruit business by planting  the first hectares of the European plum tree D’agen for dehydration. In 1975, with the help of his children he built the first business of dehydration , and two years later ,the first boxes of dehydrated plums were directly exported. At present, a planted surface of 150 hectares exists, with a total of  800,000 kilos  (dry ) being exported.

At the same time, we planted  table grapes ( Thompson Seedless) and  built our first packing warehouse.  In 1978 we began the exportation of packed boxes of grapes  which at present comes up to 60,000 which includes  packing , pre-cold  and  three cold containers  for proper maintenance.

We started planting kiwi in 1982 ( Hayward), that comes right now to 35 hectares, producing 45,000 boxes that we pack in our own packings and that are kept in  three containers of  cold especially designed for kiwi.In 1988, we began planting apples (Red Chief ,Royal Gala, Fuji and Granny Smith) with a total production for the year 2000 of 100,000 packed boxes.

Between the year 2000 and 2002, new varieties of apples were introduced, the fourth generation like Galaxy, Brokfield Gala, Pacific Gala and Fiji Raku Raku  that substantially improved our varieties and quality. At present, we have a line of packing that allows a production of  2,000 packed boxes every day.

We also have  eight containers of  conventional cold and a climate-controlled container and a pre -cold tunnel  for the proper conservation and export of this product.

The current production is 140,000 packed boxes and we hope to reach 180,000 packed boxes in  the upcoming years.

We have  a  total planted  area of 320 hectares in full production  that are supported and marketed  through the family enterprise called Huertos  Montserrat.
